Results Freediving Cup Moscow

Russian_Moscow_Cup_2007.jpgIn the weekend of April 21st/22nd there was once again the yearly freediving competition in Moscow, Russia. Russia holds some of the best freedivers in the world, but the most impressive one, multiple world record holder Natalia Molchanova, is not in the result list. Maybe she didn’t compete in this competition because of the fact that they couldn’t find an International judge with status A or B for the competition. Or maybe she was disqualified for all disciplines… Or maybe she couldn’t beat the others. (yeah right!) Who knows. In the end it didn’t matter because there were still some good performances to see.

Clear winner with the men was Aleksey Molchanova, son of Nathalia, with a 6:10 static, 117 meter dynamic without fins and 164 meter dynamic with fins. With the woman the winner for static was Anastasia Schetinina with a 4:12 breath hold. Dynamic without fins winner for the woman was Natalia Babic with 108 meters and for dynamic with fins the winner was Olga Suryakova with 149 meters. Some excellent results!

If I look at the picture I see 13 freedivers, probably 11 of them competed (Not Julia Petrik and Natalia Molchanova), so that leaves 7 woman and 4 men. Good men/women ratio! Too bad that I always have to trust translated Russian pages for info from that country. They are not really involved in th English speaking communities on the net, so if I make some mistakes with the translated names, don’t blaime me but Google.
