Fly to Dean's Blue Hole

After the long post of yesterday, I’ll keep it short for today. Here’s a small update to my first Dean’s Blue Hole post. As everybody who reads this site knows by now, William Trubridge set his world record in this beautiful blue hole, based on long island in the Bahamas.

I just received my Google Earth Pro edition for which it’s possible to make movies of the views you have from that program. Last time I checked the Bahamas wasn’t really in full detail available, but now at least the part where the blue hole is situated is covered pretty good. Look at the following clip I made where you fly directly from space into the blue hole.

Another way of viewing and playing around with this is visiting Google maps through this link, so you can zoom in/out and plan your route to it. Looks pretty nice he?

Well, Google Earth has one big deffect. Now, being a paying customer, you may suggest them to fix it: there are no explorations possible below the water surface! Once you can finish that flight on the bottom of Dean’s Blue Hole, and explore it, we may finally stop traveling and do it just home from the chair, saving so big bucks :)

Oh yes there are! I was in a beta invite around 6 months ago from google where they had some interesting stuff below the surface. In short: everything that is mapped below the seabed will be added to google earth eventually. In this demo you could fly through the mariana trench and some other interesting and well known below the water seabeds.

Here are some links of interest of 3rd party companies who are busy importing special underwater stuff in google earth. And it’s always possible to build a 3d model of the blue hole your self with sketchup and put it in google earth.
