Shark Freediving

Today I leave for the competition. I have a flight very early tomorrow morning, so tonight I take the train and have some fun in Amsterdam and then take the flight to Vienna. Then another 260 km to Maribor. So what’s taking place in the coming days over there? Here’s a complete schedule.

This day in the first day of official training. Tomorrow more or less the same thing and in the evening time to inscribe for the athletes. Of course we will see once again many freedivers training their ass of in thee 2 days, hoping to do such a training that they should have done in the last 3 months! Sometimes I just amaze myself with the intense and high volume training some of them are doing the day or even on the day of competition. Oh well, everybody their own thing I guess.

Tuesday July 3rd is the opening day. Again training in the morning, dynamic announcement and more inscription possibilities in the afternoon and the grand opening in the evening. As a judge I have the whole day off untill 17:00 hours, and that’s the time the captains meeting starts.

Wednesday July 4th is dynamic with fins qualification day. So that’s really the first competition day. It will be very interesting. Next day, Thursday, is static qualification in the morning and the dynamic with fins finals in the evening.

Friday in the morning we get to see the static finals. Don’t know why the choose do to in the morning, but I think that all the finals should take place in the evening. In the evening we get to see the dynamic without fins qualifications. In the end of the afternoon of Saturday we will see the finals of the discipline.

In the evening there will be the price ceremony and party. And that’s always an important part of any competition. You can find the complete schedule of the competition here.
