10th Night Of Apnea
Yesterday was once again the yearly Night of Apnea in Berlin, Germany. This year they celebrated the 10th version of this competition. Wow! In total 31 competitors competed, from which were 10 women and 21 men coming from 8 countries. Everybody competed in the discplines static, dynamic with or without fins and the discipline that this competition is famous for, the 16×50 grueling monster dynamic discipline.
From the 10 women competing Yamina Enedal-Mekki from Sweden was the winner with a 3:43 static, a 130 meter dynamic and a 15:30 min 16×50. Silver medal winner is Sanne Rasmussen from Denmark with a 4:24 static, ad 116 meter dynamic and a 17:17 min 16×50 dynamic. Bronze winner was German Dagmar Andres-Brummer with a 4:47 static, a 100 meter dynamic and a 21,24 min 16×50.
Some big name girls performed less then expected. Elisabeth Kristoffersen from Norway did a 4:02 static and failed to complete a 80 meter dynamic. The 17:44 min 16×50 was her first, and in my opinion pretty ok! Maria Livbjerg Eriksen from Denmark failed to complete a massive 152 meter dynamic.
Winner with the men was Jesper Stechmann from Denmark with a 6:45 static, 175 meter dynamic and a 13:25 min 16×50. Second place was for Henning Larsen from Denmark as well with a 6:20, once again a 200 meter dynamic and 15:03 for the 16×50. Bronze medal winner was Swedish freediver Per Westin with a 7:02 static, a 167 dynamic and a 16:28 min 16×50.
Special attention goes to Mikael Asp from Sweden; he did the 16×50 discipline in an amazing time of 11:32 min. For complete results see below.
