July Competitions & Events
And here is once again a calender update, together with a small note from me. In the past two weeks I’ve been pretty busy with the last step of upgrading the shark.nu website to the latest standards and models that we needed for continuing with the expansion of the website and its possibilities. In fact it took so much time and effort that blogging was pretty much stopped for that time. Sorry about that and to everybody who expected some updates. This last update was the final one to bringing our complete platform to a standard WordPress 3.0 multisite environment, with only standard plugins and extensions. This way it will be much less time consuming on the technical site for us to run this website so that we can focus more on the content, which is a good thing.
On with the events! As you could see from yesterdays post, the world championships in Japan have started, which will be for sure the main news on the site for the next 10 days. But of course there are more competitions and events going on in the month of July. So let’s take a look at them!
- 30 June/10 July – AIDA Team World Championship – Japan – Depth, Pool
- 5/6 July – OKINAWA DNF mini comp – Japan – Pool
- 24/25 July – Double Dip Down Under – Australia – Depth, Pool
- 29 July/1 August – VII individual Polish freediving championship – Poland – Depth
- 31 July/1 August – Wellington Winter Champs 2010 – New Zealand – Pool
No world record attempts, but at least an official announced german record attempt:
On July 10 Sergio and Olga Alvarez have announced to attempt to break the current German records in the discipline dynamic with and without fins in the lake. Germany have still a seperate discipline for this. Current records are 128m and 105m by Barbara Jeschke DNF, or 136m DYN Nik Linder. This record attempt is being organized by Andreas Pap. Klaus Wagner will be the main judge on site.
