Frederic Sessa Dynamic World Record 255 Meters
During the world championships in Japan, Frederic Sessa from France broke the current dynamic world record by diving a length of 255 meter underwater. The dive time was 2:37 minutes, so an average speed of 1,6m/s (5,8km/h). Pretty fast! Congrats on finally breaking the record (he has attempted it several times before). Below the video of the new record.

She has produced a documentary in 2008 about the Haenyo, the working freedivers of Korea. If you want to see the complete 4 part movie, you can watch it here. Below a cut of the movie on Youtube. Whoever thought that freediving was only about fun…
3 Norwegian Freediving Record Videos
As I’m way to busy with some major upgrades to the website this weekend, I’ll make it a quick one today with some nice video’s. During the x-bbh competition in Dahab, Norway got 3 new national records. CWT 77 by Bjarte Nygard, CNF 54m by Steinar Schjagerand FIM 58m also by Steinar, which looked more like CNF.
PFI2010 – F3F Scooter Freediving
The video’s are in and it is looks like a lot of fun! I already mentioned that I was waiting for the Formula 3 Freediving event, that was announced last year. And while it wasn’t as big as it could have been, that scooter freediving racing they were doing looks like a lot of fun.
In short; they have setup an underwater slalom course between 20 and 35 meters and the trick is to pass all the obstacles as fast a you can while you hold your breath using the underwater scooter. Dive-X has made some interesting scooter where you can place the scooter between your legs and steer with it. In you hand you hold your gas pedal.
Below some underwater footage from the event. The second video shows Kirk Krack doing a 75 meter deep scooter freedive. New fun discipline for sure! Just don’t forget to pop your ears…
PFI Deja Blue 2010: Video Rosibel Molina & Erin Magee
Some new video footage arrived from the PFI team. They show Rosibel Molina and Erin Magee doing their national record dives. As a side note, I got a message that the underwater scooter races are continuing as planned and that there will be an update about that later on.
